5371 - Ethics for Practicing

Admission to the MSETM program or consent of instructor
Description/Objective: This course is designed for practicing engineers and
scientists who meet the criteria for admission to the Master of
Science in Engineering and Technology Management. It uses a
values-based professional ethics approach and its application to
decision making in a technology-intensive environment. The course
is intended to increase awareness of ethical issues; to focus on
the planning and management of an ethics/legal compliance program;
to explore leaders' commitment to principles and ethics, including
the fair treatment of employees, rewards for ethical conduct and
concerns for meeting the expectations of stakeholders.
Using case studies an documented cases in current news magazines and
media, the course explore ethics as it affects engineering and
engineering decision, general management, entrepreneurship, product
development, project management and risk management.
