ETM 5271 - Technology Forecasting and Assessment

Prerequisite: Admission to the MSETM program or consent of instructor
This course presents a framework and analytical tools for developing technological foresight. It introduces technology monitoring, forecasting, and assessment in the contest of one or more families of emerging technologies.

Understanding the framework and analytical techniques associated with technology forecasting and assessment
Identifying the main technologies of a family (e.g., information technologies, materials technologies, bio-technologies, nano-technologies)
Describing the state-of-the-art and posing challenges about the future development and management of technologies in a family
Applying technology forecasting and assessment to an area of particular need
